ELMOR JAMES/BLUES AFTER HOURS/BLACK LABEL CROWN-CLP5168 Cover VG/Disc VG++ Being that these Lp's came to the record store with no shrink wrap, and were played to death...that is why most are beat to the bottom. Well this Elmore James Lp, the rarest of them all, is in fine collectable condition. If you know the RPM/Crown/Kent/etc. label story, then you know these were budget line albums, NOT BUDGET LINE ARTISTS. James, along with the Broomdusters recorded some of his finest sides on this label. Along with a great artist and band, the ditribution of these labels were very limited in scope and other areas. This has made these records very popular with collectors. The albums were not shrink wraped and were made to last a few weeks, so that is why so many covers are beat to the bottom. This cover is VG, with ring wear,,a little fading and a tear spot on the upper right corner. The seams are ok, but there is some water damage on the back, lower right. The picture of the lovely lady remains good and is historic for that time for using an Africian-American Female on the cover of an album. The record has plenty of shine and a few light scuffs that don't effect play.the label is clean and bright and plays out very well. The album contains Elmo's finest songs, which are all classiss and been overed by everyone from Clapton to the Stones. Tracks:Dust My Blues,Sunnyland, Mean and Evil, Standing At The Crossroads, Happy Home, Blues Before Sunrise, I was A Fool, Goodby Baby. Although not a perfect package, the vinyl playys out great and what you will ahve is a piece of musicial and social history. Again Cover Vg/Disc Vg+ Money returned if not completly satisfied.
