For auction is the ELMO HOPE Sextet's "Informal Jazz,"on Prestige PRLP 7043, MONO, DG, RVG, 50th St. Label, 1956. With Donald Byrd, Hank Mobley, John Coltrane, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones. What a lineup!

SOUND: VG

It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Overall a very nice playback! On either side there are soft tics here and there, more random than systematic... these are not overpowering, nor do they interfere with your enjoyment of this awesome performance! Of note is the first 60 seconds of A1, "Weeja," which has a systematic, soft tic. 

Not a perfect playback, but thoroughly enjoyable! The "VG" grade is solid! You will not be disappointed when you play this!

VINYL: VG

The vinyl has a short, feel-able mark in A1 (60-seconds worth, as described above.) The rest of side A is very nice, with a couple hairline marks that appear superficial. Side B has three long hairline marks, of which one is partly feel-able (not the whole length of it.) All else appears superficial. The record has flat edges, and the matrices are etched "PRLP-7043-A // PRLP-7043-B," and we have "RVG" etched both sides.

The labels are deep-grooved, black/gold "fireworks" with the "50th St" address. This record has "Side B" labels pasted on both sides of the record. In another lifetime, the owner wrote in the correct tune-titles on the actual "A" side (see pics.) The labels are in great shape. 

JACKET: VG+ or better

The jacket is great! The edges and spine are solid and have minimal wear. The corners are very good, with routine softening. The front cover is in outstanding condition, very clean and unmarked. The back too, is quite clean, with minor routine aging, and 2 small "promo" stamps.

A very rare record in any condition. This one has a beautiful jacket, and the vinyl couple plays quite well despite a couple of flaws. No reserve, bidding starts at $150.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability. 

Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.  

If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction.
