Rarer "Last Factory" Treated Record
Rarer Gold "LAST" sticker on Record Label This usually means a prior owner of the record went to the expense and effort of having the record treated by "LAST" Factory Record Preservation Process.
The LAST sticker is part of The "LAST Factory’s Co," Record Preservative treatment on a record. The Preservative is not the same as a cleaner. It stays on the record, and sinks into the vinyl, in order to act as heat and friction disburser from the stylus. It stays on even when a record is repeatedly cleaned, because cleaning is only a surface treatment. The great thing about LAST Record Preservative is you can treat a record once and it’s done at LAST Factory. That’s why the LAST stickers, so you know it is / has been treated.
It uses an amalgam of polyvinyl chloride and polyvinyl acetate that is used for manufacturing records. These are relatively long chain molecules. Under sufficient microscopic magnification, the molecules of the record may resemble a pile of “Lincoln Logs”. As such, there are numerous microscopic small voids, pits, and crevasses during production of the record. The active components used in LAST Record Preservative have (1) a strong affinity for vinyl, and (2) a very very small size compared to the vinyl molecules of the record itself. The Preservative enters and “locks into” these voids, thereby acting as a permanent shock-absorber for the vinyl. The benefits of longer life, lower distortion, increased sound quality and lower noise floor are all brought about by the characteristics of affinity for vinyl coupled with the tiny size of the Preservative molecules. The goal is longer life and better long term sound quality in a record for the year of issue of the record treated.
