Description
FOR SALE IS A VERY RARE PROMOTIONAL RECORD LP FROM 1957 IN TOP COLLECTOR'S CONDITION. THIS ONE IS REALLY SPECIAL AS ITS FROM THE ESTATE OF MEMBER OF CONGRESS REP HAROLD OSTERTAG FROM THE STATE OF NEW YORK (IN OFFICE FROM 1953-1963). THE COVER RATES NEAR MINT MINUS AND IS AS NICE AS YOU CAN FIND. A TRUE GEM ALMOST LIKE NEW. NICE AND SHINY WITH ONLY A LIGHT BUMP. THE RECORD ON ONE SIDE IS A GORGEOUS VG+++, JUST SHY OF NEAR MINT DUE TO A TINY PLAY LINE. THE OTHER SIDE HAS WHAT CAN BE DESCRIBED AS A LIGHT SCRAPE FROM THE INNER SLEEVE BUT ITS BARELY PLAYED. STILL NICE AND SHINY SO IL GIVE IT A VG++. THIS INCLUDES THE OUTER SLEEVE IT WAS MAILED IN FROM GENERAL DYNAMICS. IT STIL HAS THE MAILING ADDRESS TO REP. OSTERTAG AT THE HOUSE OFFICE BUILDING. ALSO INCLUDES THE BOOK INSERTS.

==============
This record was released as a promotional recording in 1957 by the General Dynamics corporation. The art direction, elaborate packaging design and much of the original artwork included in the packaging was produced by Erik Nitsche, the head of design for GD at the time. Nitsche is widely regarded as a pioneer of modernist design of the 20th Century, and this LP cover showcases one of his most well known posters from the "Atoms for Peace" program that was started a few years earlier than 1957. Though not officially credited in the packaging, this project is the product of Nitsche and is most frequently sought after by collectors who desire his work.
