EDGAR BROUGHTON BAND - THE EDGAR BROUGHTON
Classic 3rd LP from the Edgar Broughton Band
Released in 1971, they were one of the best loved underground acts from this era , often appearing at free festivals and benefit gigs.
After doing extensive research on the internet the unusual catalogue number SHVLJ(D) indicates that this is a South African pressing probably released in 1973 but details of EMI - Harvest S.A. releases are very hard to find.
- The label has no EMI box unlike later 1974 UK pressings.
- Condition of vinyl is excellent , it has obviously been played only a couple of dozen times, very little spindle wear on the label.
- The sleeve is also in excellent condition. It has a textured 'linen' like finish with the catalogue number printed on the front and back.
- There is a small green sticker on the back of the sleeve 10 mm in diameter with EMI 75 on it. I don't know what this refers to.
- The writing around the label says The Gramophone Company etc which is consistent with UK first pressings.
All in all a fantastic piece for a keen collector of Harvest rarities !
