SOUL SELF SATISFACTION
There are so many Northern Soul classics that were flop singles in their own day & time, but decades later have become tops in their field. It makes you wonder if the singers ever realize that they finally found their fame.
This record by Earl Jackson was released in September of 1968 by ABC Records. It never was a hit, and didn't seem to sell any records at all. In fact, when it turns up it's usually a promo like this.
The topside was supposed to be his version of the minor Gene Pitney hit "Looking Thru The Eyes of Love." But flip it over and discover the real gem, a tune called "Soul Self Satisfaction." Dig it! It's another gem from the dustbin of ABC Records. They sure did know how to produce some classics that were missed the first time around.
