Second album from the excellent German band. The first track is a mixture of experimental jazz sounds with Indian and ethnic influences, has more in common with their third LP than with the other tracks here, think of a mix of Third Ear Band, Embryo and a more experimental early Jade Warrior. The remaining three tracks are all superb King Crimson influenced jazzy tinged powerful prog with great guitar. Great album and fairly hard to find these days.
This is a quadraphonic version but it sounds identical to the stereo version in my own collection. Condition is not mint but it is an acceptable copy with a sleeve which looks ok and a disc which plays superbly.
Condition: Sleeve
The sleeve is the usual German early seventies thin card laminated front and back. The front is very clean, no tears, no writing, there are a few little lamination creases, mostly along the bottom edge, but nothing really serious. There’s also a circular indentation where the record sits which could, if not stored correctly, develop into ringwear
The rear sleeve is in similar excellent condition, clean with no writing or tears, a few small light creases.
The top seam has three or four isolated spots of wear, but that’s all that they are, just spots. The bottom seam also has some spots of wear but no serious damage. The seam is unworn and all of the writing is clearly readable.
Both labels are very clean, no writing, no stickers, no tears and all of the writing is clearly readable. The matrix numbers stamped in the run off grooves are BLPS19161 Q A and B.
Condition: Record
The record itself is in very nice condition, it’s made from fairly thinnish vinyl but it’s very clean and still has a nice dark sheen. No visible surface marks of any sort either in natural light or when held under a very harsh lamp. When played the sound is clean and clear across a very wide dynamic range with a very detailed sound. The experimental nature, of the first track especially, means that there are some inevitable quiet patches during the music and any defects would be immediately evident, however I’m glad to say that there are none and that the excellent music is enjoyable with nothing to distract the listener, no groovewear or distortion, no pops clicks or crackles, no jumping or sticking, just good clean audio reproduction which compliments the music beautifully.
Not an easy record to find in any condition, while the sleeve on this copy could be bettered it will be a challenge to find a significantly better copy of the record. I would be very happy if all of the records in my own collection were in this type of condition so I feel that this copy would be a very nice addition to any German or experimental rock collection, don’t miss it!
