Description

Rare, original pressing of Duke Jordan "Jazz Laboratory, Vol. 1" on the "ear" labels of Signal S101. The record is immaculate and probably has never been played; the labels have light age spots. The cover shows no signs of wear, but there is light foxing on the back cover and a small stamped name of the previous owner in the upper right corner.

The record was intended for student study, so there are the same four tracks on each side – "Sometimes I'm Happy", "Embraceable You", "Jordu", and "Oh Yeah" - but Side 2 deletes the alto sax so that the student can play along with the rhythm section. Included is the Musical Analysis insert by Hall Overton, which discusses improvisation, harmonic progressions, melodic improvisations and other topics.
