Description
Discos Continental PSP-LP-2825, orange label. It contains excerpts from a concert at Teatro Municipal de Sao Paulo, Sept 2, 1968. This is from an audio tape recorded directly from TV (details about the event are in the notes on the back cover. They are written in English) The original video tape was destroyed in a fire at the TV station. According to my discographic resource this is the only issue. This was released in a limited edition "Not For Sale" and not licensed for commercial use. Side A is Duke's medley: "Satin Doll", Mood Indigo", etc. on Track 1. Track 2 is "Meditation". Side B, Track 2 is a solo by drummer, Rufus Jones, "Passion Flower", "Things Ain't What They Used To Be", Sunny". Track 2 is "C Jam Blues", "Satin Doll". Personnel includes Duke Ellington, piano; Cat Anderson, Willie Cook, Herbie Jones, Mercer Ellington, Cootie Williams, trumpets; Lawrence Brown, Buster Cooper, Chuck Connors, trombones; Russell Procope, Johnny Hodges;, Harold Ashby, Paul Gonsalves, Harry Carney, reeds; Jeff Castleman, bass, Rufus Jones, drums; Trish Turner, vocals. Cover: Mint(-) Soft Cover, slight surface creases, a few at the corners. Intact. Fine condition. Recordf: Mint Visually shows no wear. No surface noise. Possibly never played. Audibly checked. This is a highly collectable item.
