Check out my other auctions this week for a bunch of rare rockabilly 45s! Here’s a very rare doo-wop 45 by the Wrens, from 1955. This is on the Rama label, number 184. The songs are “What Makes You Do (The Things That You Do)” and “I Won’t Come To Your Wedding”. This is the last Wrens 45 (aside from one release paired with another artist), and was not a hit. As many collectors of the Rama label know, it was these non-hit singles that are rare and present the biggest challenge to collect. Many of these singles were reprinted for the collector’s market… this is NOT one of them. This is an original on thick heavy vinyl with machine stamping in the trail-off. This copy grades a weak VG on the vinyl, perhaps VG- for those who are strict. There is a tiny amount of heat damage at the edge, but it really isn't visible, and only causes light hiss at the beginning of the songs. The labels are clean except for a section of center-hole damage and a couple small tears (check out the pictures). All in all, a passable copy of a very rare record!
