Description

Donald Byrd “Free Form” 1966 reissue (1961) from Blue Note/Liberty Records (# ST-84118 stereo) in a cut-out cardboard sleeve. This is a VAN GELDER, serrated edge pressing with the “Liberty” labels. The record grading is Very Good Plus (VG+) - it plays very well with minimla background noise. The following is on the runout groove:

• Side A): (etched) BNST-84118.A. (stamped) STEREO  VAN GELDER

• Side B): (etched):BNST-84118.B (stamped) STEREO  VAN GELDER

• NOTE: “Another anomaly found on a small number of Blue Note reissues in the Liberty Years (1966-70) is the serrated edge, which was the characteristic “trademark” of one pressing plant, believed to be Keel Mfg. Corp. of Hauppage, Long Island, N.Y. (long since defunct)"

The outer case has what I can only describe as the largest “cut-out” I have ever seen - I’ve rated it a Good Plus (G+) due to the other, positive features. The remainder of the covers are clean & smooth with minimal age wear. This large cut-out obviously affected the top seam which is heavily taped. That said, the spine & bottom seam are EX and the cover is quite sturdy. The original inner sleeve (also “cut out”) is included. (all reflected in the photos). All sales final.

NOTE:  This album will ship with the inner sleeve & record OUTSIDE of the cover as to prevent any possible seam damage to the cover during shipment. Both the album cover and the inner sleeve & vinyl will be contained within a plastic protective sleeve inside of the shipping box with padding on top & bottom
