Doc Watson on Stage (Featuring Merle Watson) 2 LP Set MERLE Vanguard Records 1st Pressing 1970 LIVE VG+

One of the icons of bluegrass, country and Americana music, this is a 1970 release on Vanguard Records and captures Doc and his son Merle, in great form. Performing a mix of traditional bluegrass and country music, as well as some original compositions,  Doc not only picks his ass off, but between songs he engages in stage patter, commenting on songs and his life and career. Very engaging.

This record was recorded at Cornell University and Town Hall in New York City.

The vinyl, visually looks to be in very good condition, with what appears to be very light scuffing associated with removal from the sleeve and some light scratches. I have also play graded the record. There is audible, light surface noise…but it doesn’t affect the enjoyment of the stellar guitar playing on this double LP . Overall the album plays fine with some clicks and pops associated with vinyl, but no skipping.

The cover has minor ring and edge wear. 

It comes with the original Vanguard Records inner sleeve.

Overall, I would grade both the vinyl and cover at VG+.

NOTE: A VG+, (very good plus),record may have some visible scuffs and light scratches and plays well with a little surface noise. Scratches on records graded VG and VG- may be deep enough to feel with your fingernail, or there may be scratches throughout that cause surface noise. On records in the "Good" grade (G+, G and G-), the level of the music is still above the surface noise caused by scuffs and scratches.
