Description
This record features the universal hit single "Money for Nothing" by world renowned UK band Dire Straits, led by one of rock's leading guitarists Mark Knoppfler, and released in 1985. The picture disc features a flour de lys, the symbol for the Prince Charles (now King Charles) and the Princess of Wales, Lady Diana, and the tag line " By appointment to HRH the Prince of Wales & Princess of Wales purveyors of fine hot riffs. " This was a smiling and witty nod from the princess's favorite band. FYI, in the UK the finest goods in many fields of endeavor get endorsed by members of the royal family; for example you can get a car or a pair of socks that carries a "by appointment to ..." on the label. There was no royal appointment for Dire Straits but there are many photos of Lady Diana dancing to and enjoying their music.
This disc features an iconic rock ballad, and the disc itself features a mock symbol of the Prince of Wales coat of arms, and comes with a stand. Great rock and a witty presentation make for an all-time perfect picture disc. and it's yours for $40.
