Only a few copies of this CD were ever made... and here you have the chance to get one of this gems, Now A Days it's impossible to find this item on a store, even here on Ebay I have never seen one like this listed.
When you're really into prog you're always looking for something new, something which you would like to discover long before any of your friends do. In the sudden re-interest of the genre there are so many upcoming bands that you get many a chance to find such a band but you only get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to discover and explore something really unique, something extremely precious, something breathtaking and 100% genuine.
That something is called Devil Doll, a combination of progressive rock, thrash metal, punk and classical music. And just like the mysterious air which still hangs around the Residents, you don't really know who Devil Doll is ! Devil Doll is the brain of one super original mind, someone we can call a classic composer from the new age, someone that calls himself Mr. Doctor. Throughout his albums, Mr. Doctor weaves in his obsession with theatrical black and white horror scenarios. In the middle of the bombastic music, he puts his eerie, operatic vocals which are as inaccessible as possible!
In order to celebrate the band's tenth anniversary something 'special' would be released. Sadly nothing happens and in the true 'mystery' sense which adorns Devil Doll, no statement was issued and we didn't hear neither from Mr. Doctor, nor from Devil Doll nor from the fanclub.
Then suddenly out of the blue around october 2000, a special edition of Dies Irae was issued in a stunning package. Only available through the fanclub the album is housed in a leather slipcase which contains a cardboard sleeve in which you find yet another leather sleeve which opens in twofold. On one side there's the GOLD CD and a poster, on the other side tucked behind some see-through plastic with golden scores there's a detailed booklet in the mysterious Mr. Doctor handwriting whilst on the righthand side you'll find another extensive booklet containing scores and some black and white photographs of Mr. Doctor himself (or so he says !). Since that release sadly I haven't heard anything more from the Devil Doll camp so the situation remains a true mystery which is a situation which suits Devil Doll's music best !
