Description

Deep Purple:  Concerto for Group and Orchestra. Philippines, early 70’s pressing, vinyl album. Rare.

Parlophone.  Cat No: SHVL 767A.

Purchased preloved and played once 17/11 (in the early 90’s!) to check audio quality which was noted as follows:

Crackles most of the time -poor pressing. VG (-) overall

Single laminated sleeve overall in VG condition considering the age (heavier card stock) and its journey from the other side of the world.

Light corner dings and scuffs, more noticeable in black area son rear, essentially shelf storage wear.

Front slight pen indentation, top right hand corner, just above the A of orchestra where former price label marked.

Light edge wear, most noticeable along the spine front and bottom edge.  Very light creasing along  spine, text still legible. No splits or tears.

Original? partly printed plastic lined record bags,

Discs look in overall Vg order with glossy lustre. On each side there is a light scratch approximately half way across the disc, barely noticeable to finger nail test and from audio rating when last played obviously not that intrusive against the overall background noisy pressing. Both scratched look like hairlines when viewed with naked eye.

Starting bid reflects the disc rating and potential less than perfect issues.

Both labels have a UV film finish which has partially lifted/blown, but no associated print loss.

Selling on behalf of my Dad (who supplied all the info) from his personal collection, from the olden days when he collected vinyl.

I aim to use recycled packaging when appropriate.

However, all vinyl is despatched using top quality Defendapack QP2 Quick Pack Multi Music Max mailers with additional stiffening inserts. So You can rest assured that your vinyl will be well packed and protected against the trials of postal travel!

Important perspective info, please read….thanks 😊.

A few words about the vinyl grading.

I try to be as honest as possible, but all grades are based upon an experienced but ultimately subjective visual inspection, trying to identify and highlight obvious issues.

Back in the day whilst my Dad purchased much of the vinyl new, as he expanded his collection, (eventually running into a few thousand discs) hence many only played once, inevitably he was drawn to second hand (pre-loved) copies of certain discs, including the rarer original 1970’s issue boots.

As you will appreciate, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this or looking at the listing, the nature of many of these live/unofficial recordings meant that original production standards were not necessarily a top priority, with occasional mastering/pressing faults occurring.

Similarly with any second hand vinyl which in some cases is almost 50 years old they will potentially exhibit aural signs of having been played, sometimes a fair bit..these are not mint, new unplayed discs (unless stated).

The attraction for my Dad was either obtaining the different variations of an issue or otherwise unavailable rare recordings…its called collecting!

When playing vinyl my Dad had a Technics SL1800 turntable with Ortfon cartridge, so no thrashing and grinding on an old  fidelity UA4! (early 70’s starter bedroom lo-fi, crank it up 😊).

Following a couple of recent poor experiences by less than scrupulous buyers, whilst we remain happy to accept returns when the item is not as described, we must insist that buyer pays return, tracked, postage and uses the original packaging, for both of our piece of minds.

A note about international shipping - we are very happy to send worldwide. Your parcel will be sent tracked, so you can keep an eye on it.

If you are a non UK bidder, in the EU (and the rest of the world), please be aware that following 'Brexit', your package may be liable for import duties. These are your responsibilities and will be collected by the courier.

NB For your info.

From 1st January 2021, with the UK no longer part of the European Union, our sales to customers in EU countries will be treated as exports. For EU customers, the price you see on the does now not include VAT.

Orders from EU countries

You will be liable for import VAT at the time of delivery via the postal/courier service in your country. The amount of the VAT payable will depend on how the items are classed for VAT in your country.

The exact implementation of this is likely to vary across different postal services, and there may be some grace period for orders from the UK over the initial weeks and months in some countries, especially for items in transit on 1st January 2021.

Didn't the UK and EU sign a free-trade deal?

Yes, but the UK-EU Free Trade deal agreed on December 24th 2020 means that duties will not be payable on the vast majority of goods moving between the UK and EU. However, duties and VAT are different things, and this does not impact on the VAT measures detailed above.
