Triple vinyl LP pressing. One of the great bold moves in Hard Rock history, this 1969 recording saw Jon Lord, Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Paice and Nick Simper (this was pre-Roger Glover) joining forces with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (conducted by Malcolm Arnold) for a performance of original music composed by Lord. Clearly, this was a soon-to-be-legendary Rock band on the rise, but this fusion of Rock and Classical is what they wanted to do right then, and they do it all the way, situating their heavy-hitting jams in between lush orchestral passages. If there was ever a way to hear this epic production, this is it, a luxurious visit back to the inspired concert event that paved the way for future Rock/orchestral creations by the likes of Pink Floyd and Metallica!
