Description
Born in Georgia, Trixie Smith (1895-1943) was an African-American blues singer, vaudeville performer and recording artist who made records with many of the greats of the 1920s including Louis Armstrong and Fletcher Henderson. Her star dimmed with the advent of the Great Depression but, in the late 1930s, she returned to the recording studio and made a half-dozen ides for Decca. Smith recorded “My Daddy Rocks Me – No. 2” on May 26, 1938 and “No Good Man” on June 14, 1939. Label damage, dew scuffs and scratches. Condition E--
NOTE: I grade records by a rating system that has been standard in the industry for decades. Still, it can be a subjective undertaking. I am more likely to grade by how the record reproduces aurally (I use a 78 Shure cartridge with a 1950s Voice of Music turntable that has been fit into a 1946 Magnavox Belvedere radio-phonograph) than by how it looks visually. Sometimes a record that appears substantially worn plays very well and sometimes the opposite is true.
