Description

David Bowie - Hunky Dory (1971 US Original First Pressing - LSP-4623)

This is for an original 1971 US first pressing of David Bowie's 'Hunky Dory' on the RCA orange Dynaflex label. This is an early production run copy featuring the highly desirable "A2" early stamper matrix in the deadwax from the Hollywood, CA pressing plant.

Our Process & Bonus Protection:

All records in our shop are Spin Cleaned, visually inspected under bright light, and play-tested prior to listing so you know exactly how the vinyl performs. To better protect the record for transit and long-term storage, I am including a brand new replacement inner slipcover as a courtesy.

Please note: Because equipment configurations, stylus profiles, and tracking forces vary between setups, we can only guarantee this specific sound quality breakdown on our own turntable setup.

Jacket Condition: Strong VG

The cover is the authentic original textured matte jacket with the sepia-toned picture on the back (no later Rick Wakeman A&M disclaimer box). It shows some typical light edge and corner wear from age but holds up beautifully. Solid spine, readable text, and crisp graphics.

Original Lyric Sleeve Included:

This copy features the rare, original printed lyric inner sleeve. Because the original paper sleeve has some typical age-related seam splits, we are leaving it safely inside the jacket for preservation and using a fresh replacement inner sleeve to house the vinyl itself.

Vinyl Condition: G+ (Play-Graded)

The vinyl has been thoroughly cleaned but exhibits some visible surface marks on both sides that affect playback:

- Side 1: Marks on the first two tracks ("Changes" and "Oh! You Pretty Things") cause audible pops and surface noise during playback.

- Side 2: There is a mark on the first track ("Fill Your Heart") that causes some pops during the first half of the song.

The rest of the record plays through cleaner, though light background crackle is to be expected given the G+ grade. This is a fantastic opportunity to grab a complete, early-stamp original playing copy with an excellent display jacket and upgraded protective archiving materials.

What you see is what you get—please review the photos carefully for label details, lyric sleeve condition, and matrix stamps.

All albums are sold with complimentary plastic slipcovers and shipped in Vinyl mailers.
