After leaving university Neil Harrison developed a songwriting relationship with Neil Alford. They wrote and sang songs together in and around Liverpool. Producing some demo tapes which they sent to all the major record companies. Decca stepped in and sent producer Pete Swettenham to Liverpool to see Driftwood, after which they were brought to London to make an album make this album which, unfortunately passed completely unnoticed by the public.
More pop than folk and with a lovely Beatles-influenced sound, some tracks with strings and brass. ‘You Don’t Need Love’ is a moody psychy track while others are highly original pop/psychy. All original songs written by Harrison or Alford, it’s a lost gem of an album and one that deserves its reputation as a sought after LP.
