DR. STRANGELY STRANGE

Kip Of The Serenes

ISLAND ILPS 9106 (UK) 1969

produced by JOE BOYD for WITCHSEASON PRODUCTIONS

engineered by VICTOR GAMM at SOUND TECHNIQUES

design by DIOGENIC ATTEMPTS LTD

printed and made by ERNEST J. DAY & CO. LTD, LONDON

rarest UK pink island LP

far harder to find than Nick Drake Five Leaves Left, Spontaneous Music Ensemble or Bama Winds

the rarest and best UK major label acid psych folk LP

absolutely unique and quintessentially British

easily one of the hardest UK albums to find in top shape

this example is MINT and UNPLAYED

ONE OF THE VERY BEST AND MOST MEMORABLE ALBUMS EVER ISSUED FROM THE TINY AND TOTALLY UNDERGROUND UK ACID FOLK GENRE WITH MASSIVE PSYCHEDELIC INFLUENCES

JOE BOYD CHAMPIONED AND NURTURED THIS BAND VIA HIS LEGENDARY WITCHSEASON PRODUCTION HOUSE

A FINER SET OF QUIRKY, RUSTIC, MYSTERIOUS, BURIED AND HAUNTING SONGS COULD ALMOST CERTAINLY NOT BE FOUND, ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, EVER. . .

record MINT

super high gloss surfaces - never on a turntable - top UK 1st press original - guaranteed archive mint unplayed

not even any traces from the inner sleeve - a perfectly preserved, as new record

the original and correct poly-lined inner bag is also in like-new condition

labels MINT

original UK 1969 1st press plain pink 'orange ball' or 'eye' design

both labels are perfect - bright, sharp and clean

never on a turntable - there are NO spindle traces

cover VERY NEAR MINT

original UK 1969 1st press E.J.Day issue

virtually perfect and as new with only a few of the most minor signs of long storage - please note that E.J. Day, printers, would occasionally manufacture an LP sleeve slightly out of 'true', with the seams fractionally off-centre, as is the case with this splendid example - it does not detract from the beauty of the cover in any way and in fact, in my opinion, actually adds to the unique appeal of such a rare and desirable artefact of the British underground music era - IF such a tiny and inconsequential 'fault' (there from new and not constituting damage or wear and tear at all) does bother you as a serious collector then, please, DO NOT BID - the sleeve is almost exactly as it came off the printing press with merely some minimal evidence of long shelf storage (some 35+ years) to the lower seam and an insignificant minor and almost invisible crease to the lower left rear centre - this copy is seriously beautiful - no splits, tears, writing, stickers, stamps, stains, scuffs or creases (other than the one already mentioned) - no dulling, fading or soiling - tight seams and sharp corners - razor-sharp opening edges - no circular wear to either the front or back cover - magnificent spine with crystal-clear and sharp lettering (see photos) - this LP has been archive-stored among my best stock for more than 35 years, completely free of any smoke, dust, sunlight, humidity, damp or excessively hot / cold conditions - it still smells brand new and factory-fresh - in my opinion, it would be impossible to find a superior example of this sleeve, easily the hardest to find of the UK pink label Island classics in ANYTHING EVEN APPROACHING decent condition - and this beauty is NEAR PERFECT - a 1st press original in absolutely INCREDIBLE SHAPE - VERY, VERY NICE INDEED
