Description

Up for auction is a super rare copy of the Dr. Dre classic album "The Chronic" originally released on Death Row/Interscope (Priority P1-50611) in 1992.  This copy is not a cheap reissue or remaster like most for sale on eBay.  This an authentic, original first pressing in the original opened factory shrink wrap.  Also this copy has the rare and original variation of the label which has the "Death Row" symbol at the top middle of the label as opposed to most you'll see that have the "Interscope" symbol at the top (see photos of labels).  According to rapmusicguide.com, this "Death Row" label is the true original label, not the "Interscope" label, which most dealers mistake as "original".
Cover is in superb condition, still in the opened factory shrink.  Very few signs of previous wear or handling.  Corners are sharp, not bumped, with only a tiny bit of rubbing on lower right corner at opening, hardly worth mentioning.  The photo of the front cover makes it appear somewhat off-white--this is not the case--the cover is perfectly white as it should be, closer to the color of the back cover photo.  Overall, one of the nicest examples of this cover that you'll find.  Grade the cover Near Mint (NM).
The vinyl is in very nice shape, retaining its high gloss original shine.  Does have a number of superficial very small marks and hairlines on both faces, but nothing deep or serious.  This record does not skip, nor is it warped.  Labels are clean, with a few marks around spindle holes, indicating that this copy has been played a few times.  Play tested, this record generally sounds very nice, but it does have some minor surface noise, especially on the lead-in grooves and the beginning of each side.  Once the music kicks in, it's hard to notice any distractions; though there is the occasional tick through out.  Not audiophile clean, though it nonetheless is still a very enjoyable record to listen to.  If you're looking for an absolutely perfect, near mint record, this one is not for you, but very few of these originals play perfectly.  This is clearly a well-cared for copy, and is still very much collectable.  I'd grade the vinyl a strong VG+ (Very Good Plus).
