Dr Dre’s 1999 Interscope album 2001, was the long awaited follow up to his 1992 debut, The Chronic. Featuring such rap luminaries as Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Xzibit, the album’s first single, ‘Still Dre’, reached No 6 in the UK charts. It was followed by ‘Forgot About Dre’, winning the 2001 Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group Grammy Award, the MTV Video Music Award for Best Rap Video in 2000 and another Top Ten UK hit. The multi-platinum release has now sold in excess of seven million copies, and remains Dre’s best selling album. It was justly described by Rolling Stone as “A brilliant career revival…an excellent masterpiece”..
