Description
"Double Feature" radio show transcription disc. One complete 30 minute radio program on this 16 inch, vinyl, 33 1/3 rpm disc. This disc was issued to Armed Forces Radio Service stations during World War Two for broadcast to troops and not available to the general public, very rare!
Bob Crosby's name is printed on the disc labels. I suspect this was a summer replacement program for "The Bob Crosby Show" as Bob Crosby's orchestra, The Bobcats, are the orchestra on this show, however Bob Crosby is not on this program. The rubber stamp "Double Feature" was most likely applied to the labels after the discs were created
"Double Feature" radio program #45 from July 30, 1944 starring co-hosts Les Tremayne & Alfred Drake with Andy Russell, The Town Criers & The Bobcats orchestra with special guest Della Norell
Songs include "Kentucky" vocal Andy Russell, The Town Criers, "Torreador Song" vocal Alfred Drake with comical lyrics about boxing, "Begin The Beguine", "Snoqualmie Jo Jo" vocal Town Criers, "I Love You" vocal Della Norell, "Too Much In Love" vocal Andy Russell, "There's A Good Time Coming When We Win"? patriotic song with vocal by Alfred Drake, "Take Me Back To That Cave"? comedy song by cast, "A Fellow On A Furlough" vocal Andy Russell
I could not find any reference to any other existing copy of this radio program in any online log or database
Program was meant to be broadcast to servicemen overseas, Excellent World War Two Era nostalgic broadcast! Program is complete and 30 minutes
Disc is in Excellent- Condition with Excellent Sound, Beautiful Disc!
Due to their size, 16 inch discs will not play on most standard turntables. I will include a CD dub of this disc for the buyer only
