Description

1956 Transition Records TRLP-4, this is an original mono pressing of the Donald Byrd LP "Byrd's Eye View". Byrd is joined on this date by Art Blakey, Horace Silver, Hank Mobley, Doug Watkins, and Joe Gordon. Cover is VG+, showing edge wear and a 4" middle spine split. Graphics are sharp and cover is still in good shape. As everyone knows, Transition didn't use the highest quality vinyl and it usually did not age well. This copy is actually in pretty nice condition, a strong VG+ showing some surface scuffs and paper marks, along with some longer marks that may have been cause by a stray stylus. Sound quality is solid throughout, with some background crackle during quieter interludes most notable at the beginning of each side. This copy includes the original insert booklet pictured below. It is in nice shape, with some minor handling wear. Both labels are crisp and intact, although one is lifting off slightly along the edge. Overall, a good original of this incredibly scarce LP.
