"THE KENTON SIDEMAN" - - DON RENDELL/MARTIAL SOLAL ET AL - - VOGUE LAE12028 - - SUPERB CHANCE TO ACQUIRE THIS MEGA RARE UK 1956 ORIGINAL VOGUE LP !!! - - The flipback laminated cover warrants a strong EX grading, with neat tape protecting the opening edge, practically invisible to the front  but slightly aged on the white back, plus a MINISCULE p/h.  All sleeve notes are super crisp and clear! - - The disc, bright and shiny with excellent labels, making for a superb session of listening pleasure, with only a handful of tiny random tics that barely affect play in odd places, once again, a strong EX grading is warranted here too ! - - Recorded 1956 during the Kenton European Tour, when Don, Tommy Whittle and Harry Klein were all members of the Kenton lineup, although Don was the only Brit, to complete the tour, as sadly Whittle & Klein were require to leave early due to UK commitments - - The lineup is awesome, with Don of course on tenor, Vini Tano, tpt, Carl Fontana, tbn, Martial Solal, pno, Curtis Counce, bs and Mel Lewis in the drum spot - - A brilliant session givng all members ample opportunity to sol, which they all do superbly, Rendell though  is outstanding !!!  - - Amazingly recorded in one session from around midnight to the small hours of May 3, 1956, this is awesome swinging stuff indeed !!! - - EXTREMELY hard to find, especially one in this condition, this is a must to add this historic session to your collection !!! - - Don't forget, it is now 55 year old - - Started with a low start and with NO RESERVE, good luck and thankyou for your interest  - - £20.00
