COLUMBIA SCX6214: DON RENDELL-IAN CARR QUINTET 'Phase III'

UK jazz rarity from 1968, this is the third session by this popular group with Don Rendell (ss/ts/fl), Ian Carr (tp/fl-h), Michael Garrick (p), Dave Green (b) and Trevor Tomkin (d). This is an UK 1st EMI/Columbia stereo pressing with black and blue label, housed in a flipback sleeve.

Side 1 'Crazy Jane'/'On!'/'Les Neiges D'Antan'

Side 2 'Bath Sheba'/'Black Marigolds'

CONDITION/DESCRIPTION: The disc is E+/EtoE+ (VG++/VG+toVG++) with a few very light scratches only, visible under a bright 'grading' light. Side two has a slightly heavier looking small scratch and a hint of very light general groove wear towards the end of track 2. These have little affect on the playing. The label of side 2 has a 'promo' sticker. The cover is E- (VG). Unlike the first two albums, which had heavier covers, this was housed in a softer, light cover which seems to damage more easily. There is a lot of surface creasing (not nearly so in evidence on the back) and some heavy rubbing near to the top (see photo). The bottom seam has a 10cm split in the centre. In the top left hand corner of the front, there is a small patch of residue from the removal of a sticky label.
