Description
A great opportunity to buy a FIRST PRESSING copy of the Don Rendell & Ian Carr Quintet LP from the 1960s called “Shades Of Blue”.
This is a U.K. Mono pressing released in 1965 on the Columbia (Lansdowne series) label (33SX 1733), having 8 tracks.
The vinyl is in a lovely clean and shiny EXCELLENT condition. I always examine and grade records under a bright table lamp and there are just a few light surface marks evident and certainly not enough to affect the playing of the vinyl. There is a light scuff mark on track 1 on side 1, along with a very light scratch across all tracks of the whole on side 1 (see photo). Do not be alarmed as this does not affect the playing or sound quality. I have played the whole of both sides and apart from the odd faint crackle and clicks between some tracks, they play fine and sound great.
The labels are clean and free from any stickers, writing or major defects.
The matrix numbers are: - XAX 2770-1U (side 1) and XAX 2771-1U (side 2).
The vinyl is perfectly flat and has no warps of any description.
The record comes housed in an original poly-lined EMITEX-advertising inner sleeve in EXCELLENT condition.
The Garrod & Lofthouse printed laminated flip-back picture cover is in an overall GOOD condition, there being some wear on the corners and a little along the bottom edge. The top edge and spine are still strong and the title on the spine edge is very visible (see photos). There are two scratches on the left-hand side, which are 5cm and 6cm long (see main photo).
Unfortunately, there is a 24.5cm sticker on the front cover, parts of which have come unstuck. I have not attempted to remove it for fear of damaging the cover, so I will leave it to the successful buyer to deal with as they think fit.
The back cover has a library stamp at the top of the printed text (see photo) and has areas of grubbiness in places, especially near the opening edge and where the tracks are listed. The track list also has a time written alongside one track (see photos).
Despite the obvious shortcomings of the cover, this is clearly a VERY RARE and HIGHLY collectable 60's Jazz LP and should be of interest to avid collectors.
The pictures shown are of the actual item.
Please see my other items listed.
Please note there is NO Buy It Now price, as I wish the auction to go its full term.
Records are graded according to Record Collector Magazine standards and definitions.
The record will be sent DOUBLE-BOXED in professional boxes with the record removed from the cover. The inner box is then placed within an outer box for added protection and safe transit. This item will be sent by Royal Mail's Special Delivery service for greater security.
Collection by hand can be arranged if preferred.
Bidders must have a U.K. shipping address, as I will NOT BE sending it Overseas, due to too many complications / issues.
