DON RENDELL / IAN CARR QUINTET : PHASE III – SCX 6214
Original 1968 UK album, Columbia stereo recording on blue/black label, catalogue no. SCX 6214. Musicians are: Don Rendell (tenor & soprano sax, flute), Ian Carr (trumpet & flugelhorn), Dave Green (bass), Michael Garrick (piano), Trevor Tomkin (drums). Tracks: (side 1) Crazy Jane, On!, Les Neiges d’Antan (Snows of Yesteryear); (side 2) Bath Sheba, Black Marigolds.
The disc is overall in great condition, clean and shiny. Side 1 has occasional barely visible hairline marks but plays perfectly. Side 2 has 2 tiny marks which produce just 7 faint ticks. The sound quality on both sides is fantastic with no background noise even in the quietest patches. Both labels have spindle wear but the record was obviously played with loving care by the former owner. The matt card flipback sleeve is intact but is showing its age! Edge/corner wear/creasing, record impress and an area on top right front where label removal has removed surface. Original EMI advertising inner.
