When Direct Hit! formed in 2007, the Milwaukee pop-punks had the idea to avoid making a proper debut album and instead focus on delivering a steady stream of colorful singles and EPs in what they considered to be "comic book style." Between 2008 and 2010, they digitally self-released a series of five EPs and built a sturdy fan base through touring and D.I.Y. self-promotion. When it came time to issue a full-length, they whittled down the ten most-requested songs from their budding catalog and re-recorded them to create their de facto first LP, Domesplitter. Though they continued to issue small-scale releases in the form of splits with bands like Mixtapes, Jetty Boys, and Tit Patrol, Direct Hit! gained the most recognition for their two ambitious follow-up full-lengths, both of which were concept albums. Still, there's a vibrancy and freewheeling sense of fun to the fist-pumping anthems on Domesplitter, many of which ("Kingdom Come," "They Came for Me") have cemented themselves as staples of the band's live set over the years. Having long sold out of Domesplitter's original vinyl pressing and prompted by a bevy of fan requests, Direct Hit! turned to their label, Fat Wreck, to offer this remastered reissue of their debut, giving new life to some gems from their past. ~ Timothy Monger
