Description
This is the DIN 45542 Distortion Test Record distributed by Gotham Audio Corporation of New York and Hollywood. I believe the record was produced in Berlin or Cologne, Germany. Included are two Engineering Bulletins, one in English and one in German. They give detailed instructions on the proper use of the record. According to the bulletin, "The double -frequency vertical recording on side A permits simple measurement of the vertical tracking angle of stereo pickups at several places in the frequency band during actual playback". It details Side B, saying "The double-frequency 45 degree record-d signals on side B permit accurate measurement of the IM distortion of a stereo playback cartridge as a function of its level and groove velocity". The bulletins are full of very technical jargon. Both the cover and record are in excellent condition. The cover is perfect with no marks or signs of wear. The record itself is pristine, with no imperfections and no signs of wear or use. The paper sleeve covering the record does have some wrinkles, probably due to storage. All in all, it is highly unlikely that you will find one in this good condition.
