Description
"AS LONG AS THEY'RE HAPPY" was a British romantic-comedy-musical released as a film in 1955, adapted from the London stage hit of the same name. The film starred JACK BUCHANAN, JERRY WAYNE, JEANNIE CARSON, JANETTE SCOTT, BRENDA DE BANZIE, SUSAN STEPHEN, JOAN SIMS, and the beautiful British Marilyn Monroe-like DIANA DORS is credited as "GUEST STAR".
The super-rare soundtrack is on rhe HMV record label, number DLPC-1. Music and lyrics are by SAM COSLOW. Sam was one of the many New York pop composers who went west when Hollywood was welcoming all the popular composers they could find. He has written a number of standards such as "Just One More Chance", "Cocktails for Two", "Sing You Sinners" and "My Old Flame". There are 10 scenes from the picture on the front of the jacket and all the cast pictures on the back. The lp itself is ALMOST MINT, and even the thin board glossy cover has survived the many 50 plus years in remarkably fine condition. there is some dried residue on the rear left side of the jacket where someone had once had clear tape to prevent the seam from splitting (I presume). (Following this movie's release, Jeannie Carson was 'discovered" in the U.S. and rewarded with her own TV show, "HEY, JEANNIE!".)
The song titles are: YOU STARTED SOMETHING, I DON'T KNOW WHETHER TO LAUGH OR CRY OVER YOU, BE MY GUEST, LIZA'S EYES - all sung by JERRY WAYNE) - QUIET LITTLE RENDEZVOUS, MY CRAZY LITTLE MIXED UP HEART, both sung by JEANNIE CARSON) - CRY ( not by Coslow) and I DON'T KNOW WHETHER TO LAUGH OR CRY OVER YOU , both by JACK BUCHANAN. DIANA DORS joins with BUCHANAN in HOKEY-POKEY POLKA.
