DEXTER GORDON “Dexter Calling” RVG, P, LAM, Blue Note BLP 4083 Mono Vinyl

This is the 1961, first edition, “RVG” stamped, “P” pressing of DEXTER GORDON’s “Dexter Calling” on the “New York USA” labels of Blue Note BLP 4083. Musicians include Dexter Gordon, Kenny Drew, Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones.

VINYL plays with consistent low to medium level surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with pops and ticks. Side 1, some repeating groovewear. BUT ensemble sections are clear, dynamic and strong. No skips. Good gloss. Handful of hairline marks, couple feelable. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The “New York USA” labels show handwriting and stains. See photos.

LAMINATED COVER is in very good shape. Corners worn.  Top seam shows much cracking. Spine almost perfect. Bottom seam very good, cracks at ends.  “BLUE NOTE RECORDS, INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket shows stains, wear. Please see photos.

This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER. Record photographed before final rinse/dry.
