Description

DEXTER GORDON "Dexter Calling", Blue Note 4083, "RVG," P, Mono Vinyl

This is the first edition, 1961, "RVG" stamped, Laminated cover, "P" pressing of DEXTER GORDON's "Dexter Calling", on the "New York USA" labels of Blue Note BLP 4083. Musicians include Dexter Gordon, Kenny Drew, Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones.

This VINYL plays with consistent low to loud level surface noise (staticy at times), but the instruments are very dynamic, with clear transients, very powerful extension and full tone. No distortion. Occasional ticks. No skips. No warps. Both sides have good gloss. See photos. Many hairline marks on vinyl surface--three feelable scratches. The "New York USA" labels are clean with spindle wear under direct light. See photos.

   LAMINATED COVER is in absolutely beautiful condition. No peeling. Fading along left side. Corners very worn. Two-inch left lower corner wrinkle. Spine and seam in excellent shape with very minor cracking. See photos. "BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23" back jacket is stained with water damage, price sticker, handwritten Japanese lettering. See photos.

    

This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
