This is my VG / EX condition UK ORIGINAL PINK ISLAND / ORANGE EYE copy of this VERY RARE ROCK STEADY LP - ILP 955. One of the HARDEST TO FIND of all the UK ISLAND JAMAICAN related LPs. This is the actual copy featured in the latest UK Record Collector magazine, It is a former library copy and has a 'cut-corner' (top left). The side of the disc you see in my picture here, is Side 2. This is a rare LP and I have never actually seen another copy. What is interesting is that the 'orange' print in the "eye" is missing on Side 1, leaving the slimmer black print with pink behind it. Can anyone tell me if this is the same with all copies as I assume there were not many re-presses of this one. I will print any replies as additions to my description. Anyway, the vinyl is in great shape with no surface or 'withdrawl' type marks. It plays great with just a little (dust) noise between the tracks. A clean on a modern machine would no doubt produce a near MINT copy! The PINK labels are clean and tidy with no visible spindle marks, just a lack of 'orange' on side 1. The non-laminated sleeve has the cut corner. There is also a tear half way down the spine, No print has been lost and it looks OK, but it does cut through the spine. The record opening edge has some light wear and a light coffee stain towards the bottom of the opening. There is a light crease at the bottom r/h corner. The spine is firm and almost fully readable, but because of the cut through and some print loss, the wording has partially eroded. The white card, 'tabbed' rear sleeve is still WHITE, with just a light creases in the card, bottom left, the back of the one on the front. If this sleeve had been laminated it would have easily been an EX. It has been hardly handled, but the soft nature of the card used in it's manufacture means it has worn. Even just standing there for years has resulted in these imperfections. SO RARE and STILL A GREAT COPY OF THIS REAL RARITY!
