Another from my personal collection of over 50,000 UK albums that I have collected over a period of more than 45 years! 1st UK pressing of Def Leppard's 1983 "Pyromania" album  on the 1st issue Vertigo labels. This album was purchased from new and originally only ever played to record to tape and then stored in a case with the vinyl separated from the cover and sleeve for protection. This is how I have always stored my records!! Features the earliest possible A#1 and B#1 Crossed out/corrected Matrix endings and the master pressers signatures on both sides  (Only 1st UK press)!   This album is complete with the original 1st issue un- laminatred cover!! The audio is truly stunning through out! The audio is graded at Near as Mint in my opinion!  No loud constant clicks or pops! So rich and vibrant throughout! Looks and sounds like it has never ever been played at all in my opinion! Visuallly I struggle to see any spider marks on the labels! This is complete with the original red Vertigo inner record sleeve in superb condition rarely seen complete like this!

Pyromania is the third studio album by English rock band Def Leppard, released on 20 January 1983.




The first album to feature guitarist Phil Collen who replaced founding member Pete Willis, Pyromania was produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange. The album was a shift away from the band's heavy metal roots towards more radio-friendly glam rock and hard rock, finding massive mainstream success. Pyromania charted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, No. 4 on the Canadian RPM Album chart and No. 18 on the UK Albums Chart selling over ten million copies in the US, thus being certified diamond by the RIAA.




The album was partially recorded with original guitarist Pete Willis, whose rhythm guitar tracks appear on all songs.




Midway through the recording sessions, Willis was fired for excessive alcohol abuse and was replaced by guitarist Phil Collen, who contributed guitar solos and other parts that had not yet been recorded by Willis. On the original LP release, Willis is visible in the background of the photograph of lead singer Joe Elliott, while Collen is given his own personal photo as the new full-time member of the group.




The album can also be seen as a transitional one between the heavy metal sound of their first two albums and the beginning of the radio-friendly direction of later releases.





The album featured heavy metal rockers such as "Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)", "Stagefright" and "Die Hard the Hunter" as well as Top-40 hits "Photograph", "Rock of Ages" and "Foolin'"




With its melodic hooks and heavy MTV exposure, Pyromania became a massive success, and was a major catalyst for the 1980s melodic hard rock movement. The album sold six million copies in the US in its original release (about 100,000 copies were sold per week for much of the year).





It has since sold over ten million copies there and was certified diamond. In 1989, it was re-released by audio fidelity company Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs as part of their Ultradisc series.







Three songs, "Photograph", "Rock of Ages" and "Foolin'", became top 40 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US with the first two reaching the top 20. "Photograph" (6 weeks) and "Rock of Ages" (1 week) both topped the Billboard Top Rock Tracks while "Foolin'" and "Too Late for Love" made the Top 10. Three additional songs, "Comin' Under Fire", "Billy's Got a Gun" and "Action! Not Words" made the top 40 of the Top Rock Tracks chart.








In Canada, "Rock of Ages" charted highest on the Singles Chart at No. 24, while "Photograph" and "Foolin'" reached nos. 32 and 39, respectively.







The hard rock nature of the songs resulted in some Top 40 radio stations choosing to play only one or two of the three singles, rather than all three. At CHUM-AM in Toronto, one of the largest audience Top 40 stations in Canada at the time, "Rock of Ages" never reached its Top 30 countdown whereas down the highway in Hamilton at the CKOC-AM Top 40 radio station it peaked at no.2. It also topped the chart at many album-oriented rock stations such as Q107 in Toronto.

The Vinyl
On initial visual inspection the vinyl looks absolutely superb,  I can't see or feel any scratches or marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops at all! Any marks that could possibly be seen would be light whypsy surface scuffs/scratches and sleeve removal type only.. ,  This lays perfectly flat on the turntable and are free from any warping.(Note: I notice a slight pressing defect on the playing surface, notable on one side some slight rippling in the surface, fortunately this has little if no effect of the superb audio quality that I could hear on my systems.)  The vinyl looks superb, still retaining its original glossy sheen from new.  (no) deep needle scratches or marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops at all!

The Audio Quality
I have played the vinyl prior to listing on a top system at very loud volume! The audio is superbe cristal clear and very vibrant throughout! Top audio seperation on all frequencies only heard like this on early original 1st pressings! Note! This is the best sounding copy that I have heard,, so vibrant and clear, you will not find a better sounding album!  Note: Isolated static pop/tick heard but Importantly there were no loud constant clicks/ticks, pops or any jumps truly awesome and very rare for a 1st pressing. The audio is graded at very near as mint in my opinion!

PLEASE NOTE! I always add this disclaimer! I have played this album prior to listing as usual and have given my honest opinion on the audio quality. Please remember this is a 34 years old original vinyl (not a reissue) Please allow for the odd interference/static/crackle/tick/pop but importantly nothing consistant through out the audio! Please remember  that this would have been originally played on a system that is 34 years old!
All indications i.e. that this vinyl has (not) been overplayed and in fact looks barely ever played, (No spider marks or traces!), at least no more than one or two times in my opinion and the audio quality superbe on all frequencies.
 
The labels
This features the "Vertigo" labels. These are superbe I can't see any spider marks at all on the labels, (even when angled to the light) and little if (no) spindle ware! This vinyl looks barely ever played in my personal opinion!

The Record Sleeve
This is the original red Vertigo record sleeve. No splits or tears. Superb for 34 years old like this!  The vinyl is now and has always been stored seperately from the sleeve. Note This is the original!

The cover
The original 1st issue un-laminated cover  cover is absolutely superbe!  Rarely seen in decent top condition like this one.  There are (no) edge splits or tears.   The spine is generally lovely and  square   A truly superbe example rarely seen like this.!  Super glossy  No rubbing or ring wear on the front or rear worth to mention. No real nasty creases at all, Any imperfections/indents/edge rubbing are not noticed unless looked for in my opinion.  Must be at least excellent plust  in my opinion rarely ever seen like this after 34 years on this cover!
