Another from my personal collection! One of my favourite all time albums! THIS ALBUM ROCKS! Earliest 1st issue 1st UK pressing of the awesome Deep Purples 'Deep Purple In Rock' Features the earliest matrix possible for this pressing and ''1'' to '1' mother stampers! Earliest, for the best possible audio quality found on vinyl! This is complete with the original EMI Harvest advertising serpier sleeve and the 1st issue laminated fron Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold cover, both in superb condition!

Deep Purple in Rock is a hard rock album by English rock band Deep Purple, released in 1970. It was their fourth studio album, and the first with the classic Mk II lineup (though "Concert for Group and Orchestra", a live album released in December 1969, did feature this lineup). It would peak at #4 in the UK, remianing in the charts for many months.!!!!!!!

Their earlier work was much differently oriented, with orchestra-driven tracks and covers that ranged from The Beatles to Neil Diamond, among others, but on this record there are no compromises. All tracks are credited to the working efforts of the five members of the band. "Speed King" and "Flight of the Rat" are prime examples of hard rock songs, and the band's new style.

"Child in Time" is perhaps the most famous song from this record. This song starts off as a ballad but then becomes a rocker with several solo improvisations and is famous for the high notes Ian Gillan hits in the song. Although "Into the Fire" and "Speed King" featured in the set lists at the time, "Child in Time" was the only song from this album that was included on Made in Japan two years later (although "Speed King" was the usual encore and is featured on the expanded CD re-issue, as is "Black Night" which was included in the "Deep Purple in Rock" reissue)!

I have taken time to play this vinyl track for track to give a clear and accurate description of the audio quality. (please look at my completed listings of albums that I have sold of this calaber (more than 800 items) and you will see that I normally get it right) I have also provided as many photos as I can and supersized so that all aspects can be seen clearly in strong light!!!!!Please note! These photos are the actual item for sale and not copies of other items!

The Vinyl

Please note! This is the original HEAVY THICKER AND DEEPER GROOVED TYPE OF VINYL (later press were much more flimsier and less robust)!!!

On initial visual inspection the playing surface looks awesome. It is hard to see a blemish. Any marks that could possibly be seen under a strong would be caused by the vinyl been slid in and out of its sleeve, just light whispy surface marks only! Importantly There is (no) audio sounding needle scratches or audio sounding marks that would cause any loud clicks or pops that I heard at all!

The Audio Quality

I have played this through track for track two times at very loud volume on a top system,  The audio is awesome! cristal clear and vibrant through out, with (no) distortion or any signs of grooveware at all! certainly (no) loud clicks pops and certainly no jumps!! (Please allow for the light static crackle that may be heard in isolated quiet places only) THIS AUDIO IS RATED AT THE VERY TOP ON ALL FREQUENCIES!GRADED AT LEAST EXCELLENT PLUS!  UNBELEIVABLE FOR A VINYL THAT IS 35 YEARS OLD!!!!! IN MY OPINION THESE ORIGINAL 1ST PRESSINGS PRODUCE THE BEST AUDIO QUALITY CAN NOT BE SURPASSED BY LATER PRESSINGS!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have described the audio quality as usual giving my honest opinion and would class myself as highly critical! Please look at my completed listing of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right! Please allow for the odd isolated static/crackle/ticks  perhapes heard in some quiet place,, not consistant throughout the audio! Remember that this is a genuine original 1st press vinyl that is 36 years old and would have been played on a 36 years old system!!!Audio is graded as near mint in my opinion!

The Labels

These are the earliest 1st UK issue labels. Feature the ''GRAMOPHONE CO....'' around the label rim (only early press) ''EMI'' IS EMITED (only 1st press) Barely a handful of spidering  can be seen only angled in strong light In my opinion this has definately not  been over played. Please note when angled to the light these earliest pressings show what looks like some slight blotching type marks on the labels, this is common on the earliest labels this is the glue blotching through the labels and in fact is not foxing .   For a vinyl that is 36 years old ! unbeleivable!

Please note! i am highly critical about the audio quality on my records as it is my prime interest above rarety! This plays awesome you will not be disapointed, also this being the 1st and very early is highly collectable and sought after, and seperation that will blow you away!

The Cover

This is the original ''GARROD & LOFTHOUSE'' Printed laminated gatefold cover in absolutely superbe condition! Super glossy apperarence! (NO) SPLITS OR TARES OR NASTY NAMES WRITTEN ON! VERY VERY GLOSSY AND VERY VERY RICH IN COLOUR (VERY RARELY EVER SEEN IN THIS CONDITION) Minor manufacture marks/line on the front to mention. Any rubbing is minimal to mention (no) splits or tares really superbe spine (see photos) hardly any\minimal\minor  creasing lines near spine end only but you have to look for it, to notice, very minor crease on the inside barely noticable unless srutinised!  TRY TO FIND A BETTER 1ST PRESS COVER AFTER 36 YEARS!

The Record Sleeve

This is the EMI advertising serpia  ''Patents Applied For'' ,,''Made In England'' (see photos) (no) splits or tares just light creases\staining with age ! this is becoming fragile and is stored seperately from the vinyl!
