Description
MESSIAEN La Transfiguration De Notre Seigneur Jesus Christ Double Vinyl LP STEREO UK pressing
Seven Instrumental Soloists
National Symphony Orchestra
Washington Westminster Symphonic Choir Conducted by Antal Dorati TAS List
I have acquired a large classical collection of wonderful recordings from a very keen and dedicated collector.
They are all mostly from the late 50s to mid 60s - Something of a Golden Age in Classical recording
All records are inspected very carefully and Gradings are based on Record Collector magazine.
I try to only offer recordings in a minimum of excellent Condition unless it is something particularly rare when I will do my best to describe any visual or audible flaws
On DECCA HEAD 1 and 2 Stereo UK pressing 1974
MATRIX Nos ZAL 11747-1G
ZAL 11748-1G
ZAL 11749-2G
ZAL 11750-1G
A “G” Matrix - refers to Ted Burkett who was perhaps The Master Sound Engineer for Decca - So this is AUDIBLY SUPERB !

Side 2 Visually and audibly EXCELLENT
Side 3 Visually and Audibly EXCELLENT with just the very occasional soft ‘tics” and 2 Pops for 1 Revoluton near the start of band 1 .
Side 4 Visually and audibly EXCELLENT
LABELS both have 2 small 1mm wide x 15mm strip stickers which were used to test tracking on the previous owner's rather high end turntable.
I think they are easy enough to remove - but rather than risk any damage to the label I thought it best not to try.
SLEEVE IS EXCELLENT Front and Rear - But the Inside gatefold does show some storage aging spots ( See Photo two)
So perhaps strictly speaking this should be graded VERY GOOD .
La Transfiguration de Notre Seigneur Jesus Christ was first performed in 1969
This is an astonishing work requiring some 200 Performers including JANOS STARKER
A vast ,monumental and highly regarded recording that rightly features on the Harry Pearson Audiophile TAS list (Special Merit Classical recording).
