I believe this to be the first one they ever pressed and if you read on I

also think I can prove it. I bought my first STOCK COPY of this LP

from Marshall Jarman years ago and it never had the OBI strip. He told

me this LP was never issued with an Obi .(That is testament enough to

how rare it is, to see this LP complete with it`s Obi).

Then in the early days of the internet.

I contacted a few record stores in Japan, searching for a copy of this LP 

with the all important OBI Strip. Not only did none of them have it .

All the stores I had contacted also told me they too, had never seen this LP with an Obi.

Then I met one man who had this, beauty . This man had been in business selling records in Japan for 28 years. And just like all the

other people from Japan whom I have traded with over the years ,

he was (no different) , that is to say ...completely trustworthy and his product was BETTER,  than he had described. (this is years before I found out about Ebay).

(Any of you who have dealt with Japan record stores will know what I mean).

It is as if the Japanese treat this business with honour and respect ,

rather than profit ! 

I love dealing with the Jap sellers . He said if he ever got a Stock copy with its Obi strip.I would be the first one he would call. I bought many other items from him but had to wait just over 2 years before he came good on his word, but come good he did. An insight into how the Obi`s being present affects the price is . I also ordered a copy of Funhouse by the Stooges with its Obi he said Alan . FORGET THAT ONE .

Its the rarest of em all...(In all his time trading he had never seen that one) Without the Obi Funhouse is $900 .With the Obi that LP is between $5000 and $10,000 OR MORE !

That is how important these Obi strips are...

ALL JAPAN STOCK COPIES ARE ORIGINALLY ISSUED WITH AN OBI STRIP.

This white label TEST PRESSING has its original Obi Strip, not only present . 

But it is UNSEALED. ALL OBI`s are factory sealed with special glue, this one never got that far in the process because it was never intended

to be sold to the public. Double click the pictures the OBI is MINT.

Note the shot that has the LP Matrix DL 44, the label that bares DL 44 and , the Sleeve is also DL 44 and also the Obi DL44 . There is your proof this obi is from this LP . The back of the Obi Strip also reads DL 44 also.

This could get complicated....Stick with me here !

I want to draw your attention particularly to the shot with the 2 Japan sleeves.

One on top of the other.  I have placed the STOCK COPY sleeve, on top of the TEST PRESSING sleeve. Look to the d in the word  David on the TEST PRESSING sleeve that lies on the Bottom . 

Note the two marks just near the d ! They look as if paint has been scraped away or is missing from the sleeve. 

THAT IS NOT THE CASE . THERE IS PAINT MISSING YES, but it has not been scraped away it is completely smooth to touch , it is a mistake in the print of this TEST PRESSED SLEEVE. 

HERE IS WHERE IT GETS REALLY IMPORTANT.

Now look to the sleeve on top , THAT IS THE STOCK COPY SLEEVE.

AGAIN now look to d in the word David on the STOCK COPY sleeve.

Look very closely those 2 marks are still present (feintly) but have been airbrushed

in green by the record company. I have owned 5 of these Stock copies over

the years ALL of them, have these 2 marks airbrushed in by the record company.

This is Proof that this is one of the first ever pressed . And I think that it is a

UNIQUE item in its COMPLETE form. Testimony from a top Japan record store

28 years in business  can not be ignored .Marshall Jarman`s word is not to be taken 

lightly either. Just look at his book , his credentials. The lengthy forward in his book 

was written by some one you may have heard of, TONY VISCONTI .

In all my time collecting I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER .

THIS ITEM IS IN MINT CONDITION. 

IT HAS NEVER BEEN PLAYED.

NOT THE SLIGHTEST HAIRLINE ANYWHERE. 

TOTALLY MINT THROUGHOUT. 

ANY MARKS ON THE SLEEVE LIKE THE TWO DOTS MISSING
GREEN PAINT ARE NOT DAMAGE MARKS .THEY ARE PRINTING 
ERROR MARKS. 

UNLIKE THE STOCK COPIES THIS SLEEVE WAS NEVER CORRECTED.

THE REASON IS OBVIOUS. THIS IS A TEST PRESSING AND IT WAS 
NEVER INTENDED TO BE SOLD TO THE PUBLIC. SO AIRBRUSHING IT 

DIDNT MATTER .

IT IS MY BELIEFE THIS IS THE ONLY ONE AND NOT ONLY IT IS
TOTALLY UNIQUE IT IS THE FIRST ONE THEY EVER PRESSED.
