Description
DANDO SHAFT LP
Second outing for Dando Shaft in 1971 on RCA's Neon Label (cat. no. NE 5).
Polly Bolton joins Dando Shaft on this LP. That lazy voice! Just beautiful. The rest of the band are the same as on the first LP: Martin Jenkins; Dave Cooper; Ted Kay; Kev Dempsey; and Roger Bullen.
Dando Shaft were a truly great band and there are some really fantastic songs on this LP, arguably their best - although it is a very close run thing between this LP and their third, Lantaloon. The track listing is:
Side One: Coming Home To Me; Sometimes; Waves Upon The Ether; Riverboat; and Dewet
Side Two: Railway; Whispering Ned; Pass It On; Kalyope Driver; Till The Morning Comes; and Prayer
The track listing inside the cover is at odds with the order on the record. The listing on the label is correct.
The vinyl is in excellent condition - no scratches or major defects that detract from its playing. The cover is in fair to good condition. It has some 'ringing' as a result of being stored in a very large record collection for many years. Unlike the first LP, this record has a very sturdy cover but it was not a laminated cover and, as a result, it has more signs of wear / age than would otherwise be the case.
RCA's Neon label is in the style of the second Dandelion label - ie it has just the groovy label design on one side of the record with the track listing for both sides of the record on the other. This record has its original Neon black inner sleeve, which has survived better than some other Neon records' inner sleeves, which often needed replacing with white inner sleeves soon after purchase because they were rubbish.
A very short LP but a very wonderful one.
