Description

redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This lovely and rare LP from La Voix de son Maitre (ASDF 610, French pressing, red/white semi-circle label, “baguette”-style jacket, stereo) features Gyorgy Cziffra’s high-octane account of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor Op. 23, recorded with André Vandernoot and the Philharmonia Orchestra in the fabled acoustics of London’s Kingsway Hall on 20 September 1958.

Cziffra’s outsize performance contains numerous hair-raising moments – there’s not another Tchaikovsky B-flat minor Concerto quite like this one – extraordinary playing.

Incidentally, the striking cover design was executed by Arthur Joubert. There are fine liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by noted Mahler authority Henry-Louis de La Grange.

CONDITION – PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is very light edgewear, as well as some discoloration to the rear panel, but really that is all. There are no seamsplits, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector’s copy.

The condition of the LP is near-MINT and playback is superb – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.
