Description
This record is a Jazz collector's dream! An original 1957 MONO pressing on Prestige 7094. Featuring the Miles Davis Quintet with Miles, John Coltrane, Red Garland, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones. The LP is entitled: Cookin' With The Miles Davis Quintet.
This is the 1957 pressing with the laminated cover, dime sized secondary stamping on side B, and RVG etched in the runout's with the sideways A.
The vinyl is a strong VG+. There are some soft hairlines on Side A with a superficial paper scuff. Neither effect play. Side B has no paper scuffs but has some very minor hairlines that also don't effect play. The jacket condition is also a strong VG+. There binding is solid with no fraying. The laminated cover has no tears or seam splits. There is some aged patina in the coloring. And there is an original price sticker from Cheney's Music House in Riverside Ca. affixed to the bottom right front jacket (see pics).
The playgrade on both sides is very strong VG+. There are no skips. There are some minor cackles in the background. But for a record of this age is plays extremely strong.
This record features the Prestige fireworks labels and deep groove pressing with secondary dime-sized indentation around side B spindle hole (see pics) and the 446 West 50th Street, New York address. The laminated front cover has the Prestige Records, Inc. 447 West 5oth Street New York 19, N.Y on the back cover.
The side one matrix is: PRLP-7094-A AB sideways A RVG.
