Description
This is a cabinet photograph measuring 5”x6.5”. It is signed and dated by the composer Isaac Albeniz and also by Enrique Fernandez Arbos who are both pictured in the photograph. It is signed by both of them in red as follows:
“A notre (?) Hervey. Albeniz et E Fernandez Arbos London 11 Avril 1892”
I cannot make out the word before Hervey. It could be "Mon". I believe that Hervey was Canon F A J Hervey who was an English composer. When I acquired the photograph several years ago it came with some other signed material to Hervey. In particular there was a letter from Charles Santley to him in which Santley says “.....I think your songs are very good.”
The photograph is in very good condition. It looks as though it has been neatly trimmed at the top and side edges at some point but this does not affect the writing in any way. It has also been glued into an and this has left glue on the reverse of the thick card mount as pictured.
I am uncertain as to the value of the item. Although I am a collector, Albeniz is not of particular interest to me so I have decided to sell. I have paced a value which appears to be correct based on the prices Albeniz signed material has been selling for but I am aware that this is not an exact science. I am, therefore, open to reasonable offers.
As regards shipping costs I will send it with sufficient cover for loss or damage in transit. This will cost £7.25 in the UK, £11.50 to Europe and £13.50 to the rest of the world.
