The first of three volumes dedicated to the Commodore label. The first set consists of 23 albums in two boxes.  The booklet contains track by track information as well as great photographs and an interview with Commodore founder Milt Gabler. Music by Fletcher Henderson, Eddie Condon, Bud Freeman, Lester Young, Billie Holiday (the first recording of 'Strange Fruit' among others) Chu Berry, Willie 'the Lion' Smith, Jelly Roll Morton, Coleman Hawkins, & many more. If you're a fan of early jazz, it's a piece of history.  The records themselves look as though they've never been played. The booklet shows some wear. The boxes look great & show no wear. Very good copy of the limited edition of 2,500 copies.
