The 1981 United States vinyl release of Cold Chisel’s breakthrough album East was issued by Elektra Records under the catalogue number 6E-336.

This specific press represents the legendary Australian pub rock band's primary push into the North American market, reaching number 171 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1981.

Unique US Release Variations

Unlike the original 1980 Australian WEA pressings, this American release features distinctive elements:

  • Audio Track Variance: The international version of the track "Khe Sanh" included on this release features an exclusive acoustic guitar introduction that was omitted from standard Australian pressings.
  • Label Designs: The retail versions feature the standard red Elektra labels, while official promotional (DJ) copies feature white backgrounds with gold promotional stamps on the outer jacket.
  • Pressing Plants: Physical variations exist depending on the manufacturer, notably including Specialty Pressing and Allied Pressing versions.

Vinyl is Excellent (EX), Cover is Very Good(VG) has gold promotional stamp, Inlay Very Good+(VG)+
