Cliff Richard – When in Rome
One-sided 12 inch Test Pressing
This is not a promo but a one off test pressing
This is a one sided test pressing of the full second side of the “When in Rome” LP.
What makes this extra special is firstly I acquired it from someone who was given it by Cliff following an attic clear out at home and secondly it has Norrie Paramor’s self penned initials on the label. Norrie was Cliff’s musical director through the 1960’s.
The record itself is in near mint condition. It has a white Columbia Label on both sides (but only one side plays) showing the speed of the record “331/3 RPM” and the words “LONG PLAYING TEST RECORD”. It has space for writing in the “Title”, “Artiste” and “Remarks” but these are all blank apart from Norrie Paramor’s initials on the playing side. At the bottom of the label it says “Made in England”.
In the play off groove of the record is the reference number is XAX 2889-1.
It comes in a plain white cardboard sleeve which has the remains of a seal near the opening reading “Sealed by quality control ref 8412”.
In the top left had corner printed in Purple are the words “September Supplement No.” Below that written in pen is the following – “G” then below that “XAX 2888-1”. Underneath that is the date stamp “15 July 1965” and then someone has signed his name. It looks like “R E Brown”. Below that again someone has written “CLIFF RICHARD” in blue pen.
It also has a paper dust cover inside the cardboard cover which repeats the “G”, “XAX 2888-1”, the date stamp “15 July 1965” and “R E Brown” signature.
This is a rare one off item.
