Description
Cliff Jordan - Cliff Craft - Blue Note 1582
Original pressing with deep grooves & RVG/ear dead-wax stamps ... No ® on center labels
Condition (play-test/Goldmine) -
Record: plays VG+, quiet with minimal noise & the rare inoffensive pop
Cover: VG --- minor writing on back, spine clear/intact, 1-inch seam split on bottom right opening
Rare pre-60’s (1957) Blue Note with Clifford Jordon’s tenor leading an all-star ensemble featuring Art Farmer on trumpet (before he switched exclusively to Flugelhorn) and one of the first Blue Note appearances by Sonny Clark; George Tucker on bass along with the sharp attack of Louis Hayes on traps - fresh from his work with Horace Silver’s group. All ensemble and solo work is crisp and tight with solid comping from Clark. An excellent example of the transition from 40s/50s bebop form to more sophisticated melodic lines and chord changes in combination with a less constricted beat emphasis by the rhythm section.
