Description
Up for the auction is a REAL JEWEL and one of the most sought after Blue Note rarities: Cliff Jordan, John Gilmore, Horace Silver, Curly Russell, Art Blakey "Blowing In From Chicago" ORIGINAL Blue Note Mono, deep groove both sides, flat edges, no "R", New York 23 address on both sides of the label and on the back of the cover, RVG and "ear" in dead wax, recorded March 3rd, 1957. The cover is in VG condition- some wear on the edges, small splits at the opening, stains on the back of the cover along the spine, NR stamp (see the pics). The LP itself is in strong VG+ condition, only a few inaudible scuffs-- see the grading key below (in my conservative grading system, Mint-only unplayed copies, Near Mint--copies with no visible signs of wear, not a tiny scuff), clean labels (see pics). Overall, this is an EXCEPTIONAL copy, DON"T MISS!!! The reserve price indicates the sum I was offerred, if I sell it off-ebay.
About the album. It is believed to be one of the top Blue Notes ever:
"The rhythm section assembled by Blue Note for this session is a superlative one, indeed. Returning, on bass, from the Griffin LP is Curly Russell. The leader of the Jazz Messengers, Art Blakey, is our percussionist for the date, and his reunion with pianist Horace Silver, grooved herein for posterity, is an electrifying one. Both seemed to feel greatly the nuances and anticipations so necessary to create an integrated and interesting rhythmic pulse. Their help in stabilizing a young nervousness, most naturally encountered on a first solo record date, is of inestimable value. Horace, incidentally, is greatly responsible for bringing John and Clifford to Blue Note's attention. He bacame enamored of their talents jamming with them while appearing in Chicago with the "Messengers."
Clifford plays the lead parts in all of the ensemble work, and his mellower tone is readily distinguishable from Gilmore's harder, more punching sound..." (-JOE SEGAL, from the liner notes).

Mint- Only SEALED vinyls!
M- Nearly Mint, but has been played. NO visible signs of wear, not a tiny scuff.
VG+ Plays like new, with very, very few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of jackets.
VG Still very shiny, with very few visible signs of wear, like inaudible scuffs and scratches.
VG- Some wear, scratches and scuffs, but no skipped or repeat grooves.
G+ Below average with scuffs and scratches on fewer than half the tracks. No skips or repeat grooves.
G Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.
G- Lowest Grade. Audible scratches, etc. on more than half the tracks. Listening uncomfortable.
