Description
It’s been a little while since I’ve listed stuff on ebay, but I’m back with a collection of quality rare records, including obscure private presses, psych, surf and soundtrack releases, all of which are hard to find. For DJs and producers, a number of records will be of interest as they contain funky cuts or breaks and beats.
Artist: Clee-Shays
Title: Dynamic Guitar Sounds Vol. 2
Format: LP
Label: Union
Year: 1960s
Country: Japan
Details: Original Japanese 60s foldback cover pressing of this ultra rare surf guitar classic. "In the long-standing tradition of surf and hot-rod instrumental ringers of the 1960s, the Clee-Shays were formed by The Challengers drummer Richard Delvy as a kind of super studio group, annonymously recording at the time. Utilizing Ed Fournier, John Anderson and Bob Edwards on alternating lead guitars, Buzz Carre on bass, and Richard Delvy or Larry Brown on drums, the group recorded a number of albums to cash in on the popularity of surf music in Japan during the 60s. The albums were only ever released on vinyl in Japan and to this day there has been no vinyl re-issue of the albums and they remain monstorously hard to find, prized by colectors of fuzz, psych and surf music the world over. This is great, ultra-rare stuff, and well worth a listen." For my money, the "Sole, Sole, Sole" is the best track on this second release, but the cover of 'Mack the Knife' is also suprisingly good! A very rare record.
