Description
Got a super classic for you today. It’s a first press of the Chuck Berry classic Chuck Berry Is On Top. This isn’t the cheap rechanneled stereo press….this is the first press in glorious super thick Chess vinyl....and ORIGINAL mono pressing!
This album has the classics….Little Queenie, Roll Over Beethoven, Around and Around, Carol, Maybellene (love his guitar sound on that one…) and Johnny B. Goode.
Most groups don’t have that many classics in their entire catalog…..all these songs are from the same album! This album is one of the foundations of rock n' roll. Not only is it great music, but it's a piece of history.
The jacket grades at VG. It’s taped around the edges as you can see.
The vinyl is a VG/VG+. There’s no skips, but you do hear crackle. The crackle doesn’t overpower the music, but it is there between songs and occasionally during quiet parts. For an hard to find (I’ve only ever seen two) album that is almost 60 years old, it sounds pretty great. Chuck's crackling guitar will leap out of your speakers!
If you’ve never heard an original Chess album in mono, the sound is everything you’ve read about.
