Description
Up for sale is an absolute holy grail piece of music history: an original 1955 10-inch shellac 78 RPM pressing of the legendary Chuck Berry and His Combo performing his monumental debut single "Maybellene" b/w "Wee Wee Hours" on the iconic Chess Records label (Catalog #1604). This is the historic recording that launched Chuck Berry's career and forever helped define the sound, style, and attitude of rock 'n' roll music. Condition Details (Strict Visual Grading Only):
- Visual Grade: Good (G)
- Shellac Surface: The record is well-loved and shows quite a few visible light surface scratches and scuffs from decades of handling. Crucially, there are absolutely no deep scratches, no cracks, no chips, and no edge gouges. It remains structurally solid.
- Center Labels: The classic blue Chess labels are completely intact but show noticeable vintage fading, alongside some old handwriting/writing on both sides. All text remains entirely legible.
- Audio Disclaimer: Please note this record is being sold based on visual grading only and has not been play-tested. Expect standard, authentic vintage 78 RPM surface noise, pops, and crackle.
